It is a glorious day. Well actually it is cloudy and grey and it will likely rain, the same weather that we have been enjoying here for the past week or so. But it is a glorious day.
Yesterday was an awesome day. I got together with good friends and we studied and prayed and worshiped. Those kinds of days are inspiring, and more to the point they are spiritually uplifting and can make all the difference in the world. The glory of that encounter with God remains with me today and it changes my outlook on the world.
When things change spiritually and you focus your eyes on God, everything looks different. So today with absolute confidence I proclaim “it is a glorious day.”
Verse 6 of the hymn O Come O Come Emmanuel speaks of the glorious dawning of God….
O Come thou Dayspring come and cheer
our spirits by thine advent here
disperse the gloomy clouds of night
and death’s dark shadows put to flight
Rejoice. rejoice, Emmanuel shall come to thee O Israel.
This is a message of hope and of joy. Whatever cloud you are under, come and join me as we step into the radiance of God’s grace. Let us pray:
Delight, joy, praise fill my soul
Advent promises nourish hope, bring peace and calm
Your promises ring true, your presence among us grows stronger
Son, Father, Spirit, your advent among us brings us to new birth
Praise and thanksgiving bursts forth from our mouths
Rejoicing is the hallmark of our days
Infill us now until we can hold no more, until your spirit and your love flow from us and through us like a never ending stream
Never again to be dry, always a source of hope, peace, joy and grace to all whom we know
God ever loving, your grace fills the earth and we will never be the same for having received it.
Therefore we praise your holy name. Amen….
