I am back, after spending the last month with my daughter, my son in law and my three perfect grandsons. It was such a pleasure to welcome #3 into the world outside of the womb and to watch him grow and change in a very short 27 days. It is amazing how babies change so very quickly. So I am back, but my heart is still with those precious children and I miss them like crazy.
As I checked through my comments from the last month I was surprised, honoured and humbled. Today I learned that I have been given the Liebster award. The Liebster award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 readers/followers.
‘Liebster’ in German means – dearest, sweetest, kindest, beloved….and all the nice words you can think of . This award came in the middle of a difficult time in my life and it has given me a boost that has meant so much to me. The people who read my blog mean so much to me for the ways in which we have developed a community who care for and pray for one another. The beauty the sweetness and the kindness just keeps going round and round. Thank you, Pat for nominating me. It means a lot.
Pat shares anectodes, healthy cooking ideas and humour at her blog newbloggycat. Check her out and see for yourself. http://newbloggycat.com
So here are the rules for this award:
1. Thank the blog that has given you the award.
2. State 11 random facts about yourself.
3. Answer the questions that the tagger set for you.
4. Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
5. Create 11 questions for the people you’ve tagged to answer
6. Go to their page and tell them.
11 Random facts about myself
- I am the grandmother of three perfect boys ages 4, 2 and 3 weeks. I am just home from a visit with them and I must say that my heart is still with them.
- I own, or perhaps more correctly, am owned by a cat who fills my life with joy and exasperation.
- I am a minister in the Presbyterian Church who as of tomorrow night, when the Presbytery will close the congregation I am working in, will be unemployed.
- I am packing up my house and at the end of June will be homeless and couch surfing.
- I am heartbroken that my favorite shusi place closed last month. I pray that Kevin will find joy in whatever he does next.
- I love coffee. The stronger the better.
- I love spicy food.
- I have been blessed with the greatest friends and am profoundly grateful for that.
- In the past month I read the entire triology that begins with The girl with the dragon tattoo. It’s about corruption in the Swedish government’s spy agency. I read with a sense of dejavu as the news broke about the investigation at CSIS and the search for its former leader.
- I have lived in four of the ten Canadian Provinces.
- I love to tavel and my favorite way to see the world is by cruising.
Here are my list of nominees:
Frankly I think some of these bloggers may be over the “legal limit” of followers. But those listed are the ones I go to day after day, and the ones I miss when they haven’t posted in a while. These are the blogs that fill me with joy and inspire my faith. These bloggers also speak truth in a way that makes me sit up and take notice. Having found them is a true bonus to my faith journey and my blogging experience. I hope you will find some among them who inspire you as well.

And here I stop. I know that I am short of the 11 specified in the task list and I don’t apologize for that. I limit the amonts of blogs that I read, because I have learned that it can take up a whole morning to write my own blog and catch up on other blogs. I reserve my reading to what moves me, resonates with me, inspires me and most of all makes me think about my relationship with God and the world in profound ways. These writers are only some of the ones who have inspired me and touched me. I am grateful to them and thankful that God has led me to their work.
The questions I was asked to answer:
- Who is the most important person in your life?
My daughter and her family. I love them all dearly and they give me so much. Their home is most definitely my favorite place to hang out.
2. Three must-haves on a desert island. A Bilble, a good friend, and an endless supply of Shiraz.
3. Who is your favourite actor/actress? Judy Dench. Comically and Dramatically she is versatile.
4. What’s your most over-used phrase? “Seriously”….it’s my way of asking why stupid stuff happens. Like wheat on frozen french fries.
5. Did you have an imaginary friend? No.
6. If your life has a theme song, what would it be? Here we go again.
7. What’s your favourite sport? Curling. I love the strategy and the way things can turn on a dime.
8. If you could be anyone for one day, who would it be and why? My grandmother. She was such an inspiration to me in terms of living faith and living ethically. Since I wasn’t blessed to live near her I think it would help me know her better.
9. What is your most embarrassing moment? Wow this is a tough question. Once I went into lead worship, having just come out of the washroom. One of the women leapt from her pew and came to whisper in my ear that my skirt was tucked up into my waistband. Just dancing naked before God like David did, right?
10. Please complete this sentence: “…………..makes me laugh.” My grandson’s make me laugh…although for my daughter’s sake I try to make it sound like a cough because they can be totally outrageous and silly and my laughter encourages them when she wants them to STOP.
11. Coffee or tea? Definetly coffee and the stronger the better. Don’t give me any of that colored water.
Again thank you to Pat for the nomination, and thank you to all of you who support me, pray for me and walk with me.
